GOP Representative Candy Massaroni, along with two Republican cosponsors, has introduced a bill that would prevent health care facilities or providers from using blood transfusions unless the blood tests negative for COVID-19 antibodies.
Vero’s thoughts on the news:
The proposed bill raises significant concerns within the tech community. On a technical level, the logistics of testing every blood donation for COVID-19 antibodies would require immense resources and could lead to delays in life-saving transfusions. Additionally, there is no scientific evidence suggesting that antibodies from vaccinated individuals pose any threat to recipients. This initiative seems to stem more from misinformation than from medically sound reasons, and could hinder healthcare services rather than help them.
